Environmental
Molding Concepts (EMC) was created with one idea in mind: to make
terrific products using recycled rubber materials supplied by their
sister company, BAS Recycling. EMC's manufacturing operations are located
in San Bernardino, CA, in the same facility where BAS Recycling turns
worn out tires into crumb and shredded rubber. As a result EMC is guaranteed
a steady flow of raw materials, made from scrap tires collected
locally within the State of California.
The flooring products from EMC offer
all the advantages common to recycled rubber products. They are extremely
durable, highly resilient and best of all, great for the environment.
For every EMC paver tile that is produced, as many as 2.5 worn out tires
are recycled into a new and product that will provide outstanding performance
for many years to come.
EMC makes recycled rubber
products targeted at three distinct markets. For the recreational and
playground market EMC produces Kid Kushion; rubber tiles
designed provide the maximum in impact attenuation, (shock absorption).
Kid Kusion tiles are ideal for use in any application where a durable,
resilient and slip resistant floor surface is desired. Kid Kushion tiles
come in a variety of colors and in thicknesses, up to 3.75 inches. This
flooring system meets all ASTM standards for impact attenuation
as well as all ADA access standards. Depending on the thickness, Kid
Kushion products can provide a drop height protection from up to ten
feet.
EMC produces another
series of products designed for recreational marketplace where cushioning
and slip resistance are important but extremely high impact resistance
is not required. SportPlay Mats are made from the the same material
as the Kid Kushion tiles but in a one-inch thickness. SportPlay mats
are ideal for installation in exercise rooms, play rooms and day care
centers. These pavers are soft but very durable. They will provide impact
attenuation from a moderate drop height and add a level of slip resistance
that is not offered by most other types of flooring materials.
For applications where
the durability of the recycled rubber materials is more important than
its shock absorbing qualities, EMC produces pavers made from a more
dense material. Called simply EMC Paver Tiles, these products
are 3/4" thick and come with or without a cross hatch brick pattern
stamped into the surface. The higher density material is ideal for heavy
traffic areas and can be used as a flooring material in garages and
utility rooms as well as in exterior applications on decks, ramps and
walkways.
The high density Paver is also produced in a 1" thickness. In this thickness,
it is ideal for use in as a flooring system in the Equine environment.
The additional 1/4" in thickness adds a little extra cushioning for
maximum durability under harshest conditions.

This product, which goes
by the name of EquiTile, comes in two foot square tiles just like all
the other EMC pavers. It is extremely durable, easy to clean and will
provide a soft yet firm flooring surface when installed in barns, stables
and other livestock facilities. Unique connector pins can be used to
lock the EquiTile pavers together so they will not slip or separate
when in use.
