Recycled Rubber Flooring Products for the Equine Environment

Potential applications for the rubber flooring and footing products offered by Diamond Safety Concepts fall into several categories. They can be used for a variety of general flooring applications such as on walkways, ramps and decks. They can also be used for many recreational applications including on playgrounds, exercise rooms and in day care centers. Some of the products we offer have been specifically designed for use in the equestrian environment. This section focuses on those products.

Diamond Safety Concepts currently offers rubber flooring for equine applications from several excellent companies. Each of the products we offer is unique in its own way and fills a particular market niche.

SofScape pavers are produced in Manheim, PA by Reifen Rubber. These unique pavers are nine inches  diameter, two-inch thick, hexagonal pavers that are ideal for in-ground installations in barn aisles and other high traffic areas. SofScape pavers come in several colors. They are attractive, easy to install and extremely durable.  

EMC produces a variety of rubber flooring products. Their equine flooring product is known as Equi-Tile. It is a two-foot square, one-inch thick paver made from a high-density rubber material. Equi-Tile is also available in several colors. Among the unique features that this product offers is a special connector pin system that helps to lock the pavers in place, eliminating the need to use adhesive during the installation.

Eco-flex is the leading recycled rubber flooring manufacturer in Canada. They produce several tiles and pavers that perform very well in the equine environment. At one square yard per tile, their tile series has the largest form factor offered by any manufacturer. This large format greatly reduces  installation time. Eco-flex also offers Z-Brick and I-Tile pavers that are suitable for many equine applications. Their newest product is an unique I-Tile mat that combines the ease of installation common to the larger tiles with the popular interlocking characteristics of the smaller I-Tile paver.

Rounding out our rubber equine flooring product lines are a selection of high quality stall mats from several manufacturers. We offer both interlocking and straight-sided stall mats. Our stall mats are available in thicknesses ranging from 1/2" to 3/4", with several surface texture and color options. We represent manufacturers with production facilities located in the US as well as several overseas manufacturers.

Diamond Safety Concepts also carries rubber  equine footing products. We offer loose granular and shredded rubber from several manufacturers. This material is made from recycled tires that are ground into small granules and and processed to remove the steel fibers. When mixed with sand or DG in rinks, arenas, stalls or pens, these materials create a soft yet firm footing that drains well and resists rutting. Rubber footing acts to control dust and reduces the amount of water needed to create the ideal equine environment.

Last, but certainly not least is a very unique footing stabilization product known as  EquiTerr. EquiTerr is commonly used in arenas, training areas, paddocks and stalls as a way to stabilize the soil while improving drainage. This unique product is a honeycomb cell panel made from 97% recycled polyethylene. These panels are placed over a porous base of fast draining materials such as gravel and covered with a lightweight fill, then bedding or another kind of footing. You can even plant grass. The resulting installation supports up to 156,000 pounds per square foot and creates one of the best draining environments possible.
